Dispersion calibration for the National Ignition Facility electron–positron–proton spectrometers for intense laser matter interactions

چکیده
Electron-positron pairs, produced in intense laser-solid interactions, are diagnosed using magnetic spectrometers with image plates, such as the National Ignition Facility (NIF) Electron Positron Proton Spectrometers (EPPS). Although modeling can help infer quantitative value, accuracy of models needs to be verified ensure measurement quality. The dispersion low-energy electrons and positrons may affected by fringe fields near entrance EPPS. We have calibrated EPPS six electron beams from a Siemens Oncor linear accelerator (linac) ranging energy $2.7$--$15.2$ $\mathrm{MeV}$ they enter spectrometer. A Geant4 TOPAS Monte-Carlo simulation was set up match depth dose curves lateral profiles measured water at $100$ $\mathrm{cm}$ source-surface distance. An accurate relationship established between bending magnet current setting beam exit window. simulations measurements were used determine distributions slit. The National Ignition Facility NIF will provide up to 1.8 MJ of laser energy for imploding inertial confinement fusion ICF targets. Ignited NIF targets are expected to produce up to 1019 DT neutrons. This will provide unprecedented opportunities and challenges for the use of nuclear diagnostics in ICF experiments. In 2005, the suite of nuclear-ignition diagnostics for the NIF was defined and th...

LLE Review, Volume 79 121 The National Ignition Facility (NIF) is currently under construction at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL). One of the primary missions of the NIF is to achieve fusion ignition by means of inertial confinement fusion (ICF). Two main approaches have been considered for achieving thermonuclear yield in ICF. The first approach, known as indirectdrive ICF,1 encl...
